After deliberations and taking into account the number of players registered for each category as well as players' request due to festivities and holidays, the EXCO's decision vis-a-vis 2016 KL Closed are as follows:-

9. Selection Criteria:
KLCA is selecting 5 players to represent the F.T. of Kuala Lumpur team i.e. 4 players and 1 reserve.
A. 4 Players will be selected from the KL Closed 2016 competition.
i. Champion of KL Closed 2016 will automatically qualify for the Kuala Lumpur state team.
ii. Runners-Up to Fourth place finisher will qualify automatically for the KL state team IF the Fifth(5th)-placed finisher isNOT level on points.
iii. Play-offs will be conducted IF Fifth(5th)-placed finisher and below is level on points with any of the players finishing Second(2nd) to Fourth(4th) in KL Closed 2016.
B. 1 Player will be the KLCA President's pick.
C. In the event of any selected player being unable to participate in the identified competition, the KLCA President reserves the right to pick a replacement player.

KLCA received complaints from KL players/accompanying persons participating in the 2016 Commonwealth Chess Championship at Sri Lanka of "alleged financial irregularities" by certain Sports Official(s).
KL Players/Accompanying Persons affected by the alleged financial irregularities are ADVISED to lodged Official report(s) with KLCA and the relevant authorities.
Sumant Subramaniam, CM Ng Jen Sheng and Lye Lik Zang emerged Champion, Fifth and Seventh respectively in the just concluded 2016 Malaysian Masters held in the new DATCC Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. Well Done and congratulations are in order to All KLCA players.

The Women's competition will be decided this morning.
Congratulations to Sumant Subramaniam who emerged as the newly-minted 2016 Malaysian Masters Champion. After the previous Olympiad brouhaha, Sumant cemented his place in this year's Malaysian Team to the Olympiad.
Kudos to Sumant who represented KLCA in the Malaysian Masters.
3 KLCA players will be participating in the 16th edition of the Bangkok Open.
In the Open category, KLCA will be represented by its Deputy President i.e. Dr. Zaidan Zulkipli and 2016 NAG U16 Champion CM Ng Jen Sheng. Joshua Lee Shan Chen will be taking part in the Challengers event.
